Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: Al Seer Marine, a subsidiary of International Holdings Company (IHC), has launched its additive manufacturing business unit for 3D printing.
With computer-aided design (CAD) software or 3D object scanners, the technology enables engineers to design parts during the manufacturing process with increased complexity within a short period of time, according to a press release on Thursday.
The new business unit will benefit from the latest additive manufacturing technologies for the company’s in-house manufacturing of unmanned vessels and vehicles.
The CEO of Al Seer Marine, Guy Neivens, said: "The company’s decision to pursue additive manufacturing is testament to the technology’s growing influence and diverse applications across a range of sectors."
Meanwhile, Neivens added: "This increased adoption has been largely driven by the digital process behind additive manufacturing, which allows for the creation of bespoke parts with complex geometries and little wastage – rapidly reducing costs and weight considerations while maintaining the part’s strength and integrity."
